The application of terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) and imaging to differentiate flat and curved surfaces in reflection via the THz Gouy phase shift is demonstrated. For a THz-TDS system that is aligned for reflection from a flat surface, the presence of a curved surface displaces the image focal plane from the detector plane, resulting in a Gouy phase shift. The potential of utilizing this configuration for estimating the number and size of curved objects is discussed with…

Review of Moisture and Liquid Detection and Mapping using Terahertz Imaging
The relatively high permittivity of liquid water compared to other materials in the Terahertz (THz) range enables a contrast mechanism for the detection and imaging of moisture. In this paper,
Generalized Gouy phase for focused partially coherent light and its implications for interferometry.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that the correlation properties of partially coherent fields described by their so-called spectral degree of coherence does exhibit a generalized Gouy phase, and its precise behavior in the focal region depends on the transverse coherence length.

The study on terahertz nondestructive testing on debond defects for heat-resistant composites
With the wide use of high-temperature resistant composites(HRC) in aviation and space flight, it is urgent to detect the quality of the bonding. This paper used the Terahertz (THz) time-do ain
Phase anomalies in Bessel-Gauss beams.
TLDR
It is found that the characteristics of Bessel-Gauss beams cause a continuously increasing phase anomaly in the spatial domain where such beams do not diverge, i.e. there is a larger phase advance of the beam when compared to a referential plane wave.
Phase anomalies in Talbot light carpets of self-images.
TLDR
This work investigates experimentally and theoretically the anomalous phase behavior of Talbot images that emerge from a 1D amplitude grating with a period only slightly larger than the illumination wavelength and discovers that the phase anomaly, i.e., the difference of the phase of the field behind the grating to thephase of a referential plane wave, is an increasing function with respect to the propagation distance.
The Gouy phase shift reinterpreted via the geometric Fourier transform
Although first discovered over a hundred years ago by the scientist of the same name, the Gouy phase anomaly continues to awaken considerable interest in the scientific community. In this work, the
Study on intelligent recognition detection technology of debond defects for ceramic matrix composites based on terahertz time domain spectroscopy.
TLDR
A method-extraction method is applied to make samples to simulate the bonding defect of CMC by embedding polytetrafluoroethylene sheets with 0.12 mm thickness into the adhesive layer and extracting it after curing and presetting the bonding defects.

Nondestructive evaluation of cork enclosures using terahertz/millimeter wave spectroscopy and imaging.
TLDR
It is shown that the attenuation coefficient of the defect-free cork can be modeled with a Mie scattering model in the weakly scattering limit and contrast in the THz images is a result of enhanced scattering of THz radiation by defects or voids as well as variations in the cork cell structure.
