The main aspects of using planar chromatography to isolate and identify polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and their derivatives in environmental samples are described. Several carbonyl, nitro polycyclic aromatic compounds, azaarenes, and polar PAHs, which are very dangerous for human health, were identified.
