Application of pi-Calculus for Software Process Formalization

Systematic research of software process is being conducted at the Department of Computer Science for several years. Results of the research are mainly software packages [1] and technology scans [2]. However, formal description of the software process is still insufficient. As yet, Petri’s Net theory [3] was applied for this purpose nearly exclusively. The theory has powerful mechanisms enabling to find out and prove some fundamental characteristics of the process. Nevertheless, practical application of the theory fails due enormous computational demands. This paper presents attempt of Robin Milner’s -calculus [6] application for purpose of software process formalization.
