Objectives Based on the concept of health quotient (HQ), we designed and facilitated personalized plans to improve patients’ compliance and oral health. The study aims to increase HQ level of patients with chronic periodontitis from four aspects, namely self-care, health knowledge, lifestyle, and mental health, and evaluate the effects of HQ training in maintaining oral health. Method In total, 105 patients with chronic periodontitis were recruited from Capital Medical University-Affiliated…

Dental Hygiene Program Directors' Perceptions of Advances in Accreditation Standards.
Dental hygiene program directors were divided regarding advancing accreditation standards to the baccalaureate degree for entry-level dental hygienists, and were in support of modifying the standard to require didactic educators to have a master's degree.
Abstract. Chronic periodontitis is the most common periodontal disease and is characterized by progressive degeneration of periodontal tissue. Periodontal-specific pathogens can induce the expression of various inflammatory cytokines in periodontal ligament cells and their secretion into peripheral
Findings indicate that IL-18 promotes the secretion of MMP1, MMP2, M MP3, and MMP9 in hPDLFs by activating the NF‐κB signaling pathway, which has a key role in the development of chronic periodontitis.

Oral inflammation and infection, and chronic medical diseases: implications for the elderly.
There is moderate evidence that improved oral hygiene may help prevent aspiration pneumonia in high-risk patients, and no specific guidance can be provided regarding oral hygiene or periodontal interventions that enhance the medical management of older adults.
The effects of a desiccant agent in the treatment of chronic periodontitis: a randomized, controlled clinical trial
Desiccant, when combined to SRP, was demonstrated as a significant approach to control the levels of certain periodontal pathogens, inflammatory mediators in patients with CP.
Factors that influence health quotient in Chinese college undergraduates.
The health quotient is one instrument that can be used to assess college students' holistic health and target health promotion interventions and students appear capable of managing their own health.
Development of a classification system for periodontal diseases and conditions.
How the new classification for periodontal diseases and conditions presented in this volume differs from the classification system developed at the 1989 World Workshop in Clinical Periodontics is summarized.
Comparison of the clinical features of chronic and aggressive periodontitis.
The clinical distinction between chronic and aggressive periodontitis (especially generalized) is not clear cut, requiring non-overlapping case definitions for research purposes if the underlying etiology of these diseases is ever to be fully elucidated.
The Effects of Diode Laser Therapy as an Adjunct to Scaling and Root Planing in the Treatment of Aggressive Periodontitis: A 1-Year Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial.
At 1 year, SRP+diode laser yielded a significant reduction in some clinical parameters, while microbial and inflammatory mediator changes were not significantly reduced compared to SRP alone.
Exploring the salivary microbiome of children stratified by the oral hygiene index
This is the first study demonstrating an important association between increase of Veillonella and poor oral hygiene status in children, however, further studies are required to identify the majority of Veillsonella at species level in salivary microbiome of the Poor oral hygiene group.
Effective techniques in healthy eating and physical activity interventions: a meta-regression.
Classifying interventions according to component techniques and theoretically derived technique combinations and conducting meta-regression enabled identification of effective components of interventions designed to increase physical activity and healthy eating.
Financial Incentives, Participation in Employer-Sponsored Health Promotion, and Changes in Employee Health and Productivity: HealthPlus Health Quotient Program
Health promotion participants improved their subsequent-year health risk more than did non-participants and was associated with reduced illness-related absenteeism and (although inconsistently) with medical claims paid and short-term disability.
Identification of behaviour change techniques to reduce excessive alcohol consumption.
It is possible to identify specific behaviour change techniques reliably in manuals and guidelines for interventions to reduce excessive alcohol consumption and, in brief interventions, promoting self-monitoring is associated with improved outcomes.
