The need for sensitive methods applicable to tRNA base composition analysis has become apparent on several occasions at this meeting. In contrast to the extensive investigations on tRNA methylases in normal and tumor tissues initiated by Borek and Srinivasan (3), only limited comparative data regarding the actual base composition of tRNA from mammalian sources are available at present (1,2,4,6,7,9, 13).
