This paper discusses an application layer framework that uses a set of standard IETF protocols for supporting real-time and non-real-time multimedia applications on mobile terminals of next generation wireless [3G/4G] networks. It describes a 3G-IP architecture and brings out the requirements and issues which are essential for supporting roaming users in the wireless Internet in a ubiquitous way.
