Abstract Introduction. Patients with comorbid depression and anxiety disorders have a higher suicide risk, increased social and vocational dysfunction and more severe and refractory illness. Methods. This paper reviews the studies examining the temporal relationship between onset of anxiety disorders and depression. Results.
