Caryophyllene-6,7-epoxide and caryophyllene-6,7-episulfide can be easily synthesized from β-caryophyllene by autoxidation or episulfidation. The bioactivities of β-caryophyllene and its derivatives were investigated against the subterranean termite Reticulitermes speratus Kolbe. The antifeedant, feeding, and termiticidal activities of each compound were tested using no-choice, dual-choice, and non-contact methods. Antitermitic activities were not shown by β-caryophyllene, but were observed for…

Antitermite and antifungal activities of thujopsene natural autoxidation products
Autoxidation of thujopsene was investigated using gas chromatography (GC) at 100 °C and at room temperature. High yields of mayurone were detected as the main product under both temperature
Antifungal activity of longifolene and its autoxidation products
Antifungal activities of longifolene and its autoxidation products were investigated using five fungi and longifolic and isolongifolic acid demonstrate strong anti-fungal activity.
[Inhibitory Effects of β-caryophyllene on Helicobacter pylori Infection: A Randomized Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Study].
β-caryophyllene improves dyspepsia symptoms and can be considered a useful supplementary treatment for gastrointestinal disease.
Antitermitic activity of extracts from Chamaecyparis obtusa branch heartwood
The antitermitic activity of extracts from the branch heartwood of Chamaecyparis obtusa (hinoki) against Japanese termites (Reticulitermes speratus) was compared with that of the trunk. Samples of
Pesticidal properties of Anamirta cocculus, Cardiospermum halicacabum, Cocculus laurifolius and Strychnos nux-vomica against Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)
This study investigated the anti-insect properties of leaf and bark extracts of Anamirta cocculus, Cardiospermum halicacabum, Cocculus laurifolius and Strychnos nux-vomica and found significant anti-feedant activity compared to control at different concentrations.
Evaporation of volatiles from essential oils of Japanese conifers enhances antifungal activity
The antifungal properties of evaporation residue of essential oils (EOs) derived from the needles of the three Japanese planted conifer species Cryptomeria japonica, Pinus thunbergii and Thujopsis
Termiticidal Activity of Methanol Extract of Pegagan (Centella asiatica L. Urban) Toward Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren
Termiticide activity of methanol extract of Centella asiatica L. Urban against Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren was investigated using the no choice test. The chemical components of methanol extract

Reaction mechanism of direct episulfidation of caryophyllene and humulene
Direct episulfidations of caryophyllene or humulene with elemental sulfur were examined by means of gas chromatography and it was assumed that the polymer compound in the reaction of humULene with sulfur was related to the disappearance of the both humulenes episulfides.
Bioactivity of latifolin and its derivatives against termites and fungi.
It was found that the inhibition rates of white- and brown-rot fungi in response to all derivatives were less than that for compound 1, and the bioactivity of compound 1 depends upon the position of phenolic hydroxyl groups.
Direct Episulfidation of Caryophyllene and Humulene
Abstract Caryophyllene-6,7-episulfide (3), humulene-9,10- (4) and -6, 7-episulfide (5) found in hop oil, were prepared by heating caryophyllene or humulene with sulfur at 120°C. Examination of
Antitermitic Activities of Abietane-type Diterpenes from Taxodium distichum Cones
The presence of various oxidation forms of the abietane-type structure reflects their various bioactivities.
Use of caryophyllene oxide as an antifungal agent in an in vitro experimental model of onychomycosis
A new model has been tested, utilizing sheep hoof plates in order to simulate human nails, which are almost unobtainable for in vitro tests, and was the best to simulate antifungal therapy.
Acaricidal activity of clove bud oil compounds against Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Acari: Acaridae)
In fumigation tests with adult T. putrescentiae, all four phenylpropenes were more effective against the mites in closed containers than in open ones, indicating that the mode of delivery of these compounds was largely due to action in the vapor phase.
Antitermitic and Antifungal Activities of Essential Oil of Calocedrus formosana Leaf and Its Composition
Calocedrus formosana Florin (Cupressaceae) is an endemic tree species in Taiwan; its timber is recognized for natural decay resistance. To examine the antitermitic and antifungal activities of leaf
Acaricidal activity of pine essential oils and their main components against Tyrophagus putrescentiae, a stored food mite.
Some essential oils obtained from the branches of four Pinus species have been evaluated for their acaricidal activity by aerial diffusion against the stored food mite Tyrophagus putrescentiae, and P. pinea oil and its two constituents 1,8-cineole and limonene were the most effective compounds.
