Chinese practitioners have employed the use of traditional Chinese medicine as an anti-cancer agent since the ancient period. Different combinations have been formulated for various purposes. Some have been claimed for post-chemotherapy use but their direct actions on cancer cells may not be significantly reported. In the present study, we have tested the possible anti-leukemia potential of a combination regimen including crocodile egg extract, wild radix ginseng and natural Ganoderma lucidum…

Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides in human monocytic leukemia cells: from gene expression to network construction

The results showed that F3 may induce death receptor ligands to initiate signaling via receptor oligomerization, recruitment of specialized adaptor proteins and activation of caspase cascades in THP-1 cells after F3 treatment.

An Evidence-based Perspective of Ganoderma Lucidum (Lucid Ganoderma) for Cancer Patients

The combination from lucid ganoderma and other herbs or foods as an alternative treatment might exhibit synergistic anticancer efficacy, however, more studies regarding the safety and application in clinical trial need to be processed in the future for providing more evidences.

Ganoderma lucidum exerts anti-tumor effects on ovarian cancer cells and enhances their sensitivity to cisplatin.

The findings suggest that Ganoderma lucidum exerts multiple anti-tumor effects on ovarian cancer cells and can enhance the sensitivity of EOC cells to cisplatin.

Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide inhibits prostate cancer cell migration via the protein arginine methyltransferase 6 signaling pathway

The results indicate that GLP was effective in inhibiting cell growth, the cell cycle and cell migration, and the suppressive effect of GLP on cell migration may occur via the PRMT6 signaling pathway.

Anti-Cancer Effects of an Optimised Combination of Ginsenoside Rg3 Epimers on Triple Negative Breast Cancer Models

The optimised combination of Rg3 epimers showed promising results as a potential treatment option for TNBC patients and shrunk the primary tumour and decreased the load of metastasis in mice.

Sensory Performance, Proximate and Antioxidant Activity of Tea from Composite Formulation of Cymbopogon citratus, Lippia multiflora and Ganoderma lucidum

Commercially produced herbal green teas consumed in Ghana are mostly those imported into the country. However, there are many plants such as “Srenunum” (Lippia multiflora) and lemongrass (Cymbopogon

Clinical Evaluation of Guilu Erxian Jiao in Treating Perimenopausal Syndrome

GEJ is effective for relieving perimenopausal syndrome, and taking high-dose GEJ once per day for 2 months elevates more serum estradiol levels than does taking a low dose, therefore, it is concluded that GEJ is beneficial for treating perimenopause.

Functional Roles of Syk in Macrophage-Mediated Inflammatory Responses

The characteristics of Spleen tyrosine kinase-mediated signaling pathways are described, the recent findings supporting the crucial roles of Syk in macrophage-mediated inflammatory responses and diseases are summarized, and Syk-targeted drug development for the therapy of inflammatory diseases is discussed.

Activities of fresh juice of Scutellaria barbata and warmed water extract of Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis on anti-proliferation and apoptosis of human cancer cell lines.

It is believed that, although Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis was demonstrated to have toxic components including matrine and oxymatrine, it is still worthwhile to further investigate its anti-cancer potential under a safety toxicological precaution.

Antiproliferative and apoptosis-inducing activity of Brucea javanica extract on human carcinoma cells.

BJE-induced cancer cell death proceeds through a mitochondrial dependent pathway associated with caspase 3 activation, and additional analyses supported the hypothesis that the mitochondrial membrane potential depolarization pathway was induced by BJE.

Apoptotic potential of the concentrated effective microorganism fermentation extract on human cancer cells.

It is demonstrated that the concentrated form of the EM-X from its original fluid also possess antiproliferation ability together with induction of apoptosis on the human cancer cell lines including Hep3B hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and KG1a acute myelogenous leukaemia (AML).

Ganoderma lucidum extract induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in MCF‐7 human breast cancer cell

The alcohol extract of Ganoderma lucidum inhibited cell proliferation in a dose‐ and time‐dependent manner and can directly induce apoptosis in MCF‐7 cells, which might be mediated through up‐regulation of p21/Waf1 and down‐ regulation of cyclin D1.

Inhibition of proteasome activity in Gleditsia sinensis fruit extract-mediated apoptosis on human carcinoma cells.

GSE- mediated apoptosis on HepG2 and MDA-MB231 carcinoma cells is mainly dictated by the mitochondrial-dependent pathway while inhibition of proteasome activity may also be involved in GSE-induced apoptosis.

Ganoderma lucidum inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in human prostate cancer cells PC-3.

The data demonstrate that Ganoderma lucidum inhibits cell proliferation in a dose- and time-dependent manner by the down- regulation of expression of cyclin B and Cdc2 and by the up-regulation of p21 expression, and exerts its effect on cancer cells by multiple mechanisms.

Gleditsia sinensis fruit extract-induced apoptosis involves changes of reactive oxygen species level, mitochondrial membrane depolarization and caspase 3 activation.

It was demonstrated that cell cycle arrest, increment of hydrogen peroxide production, changes of intracellular acid-base equilibrium and mitochondrial membrane potential depolarization were induced from cancer cells after GSE incubation, and a defined signaling pathway for the mechanistic action of GSE on cancer cells was worked out.
