In this study, the effect of different solvent including ethanol, n-hexane and ethyl acetate on antioxidant activity and total phenolic content (TPC) of winter melon (Benincasa hispida) seeds extract was investigated using conventional Soxhlet extraction (CSE). DPPH and ABTS scavenging activity and TPC results indicated that the seed extracts obtained using ethanol possessed the highest antioxidant activity and followed by ethyl acetate and n-hexane. By considering obtained results, it was…

Ultrasound-assisted extraction of valuable compounds from winter melon (Benincasa hispida) seeds

Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) was applied for the extraction of bioactive valuable compounds from winter melon (Benincasa hispida) seeds. Effects of amplitude (25-75%), temperature (40-60°C)

Characterization of Valuable Compounds from Winter Melon (Benincasa hispida (Thunb.) Cogn.) Seeds Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction Combined with Pressure Swing Technique

In this study, we describe the extraction of different valuable compounds from winter melon seeds using supercritical carbon dioxide extraction combined with pressure swing technique (SCE-PST). The

Effect of different extraction techniques on total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of Quercus infectoria galls

In this work, the bioactive compounds which was obtained by extracting Quercus infectoria via two extraction methods; Soxhlet and supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO 2 ) extraction, were analyzed

Acacia senegal Extract Rejuvenates the Activity of Phenicols on Selected Enterobacteriaceae Multi Drug Resistant Strains

The adjuvant effect of HE of A. senegal suggests that the crude extract of leaves could be a potential source of molecules for improving the susceptibility of bacteria to phenicols antibiotics.

Optimization of Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction of Crude Oil from Winter Melon (Benincasa hispida) Seed Using Response Surface Methodology and Evaluation of Its Antioxidant Activity, Total Phenolic Content and Fatty Acid Composition

In the present study, ultrasound-assisted extraction of crude oil from winter melon seeds was investigated through response surface methodology and it was found that crude extract yield was lower than that of the Soxhlet method, whereas antioxidant activity and total phenolic content of the extract obtained by ultrasound- assisted extraction were clearly higher than those of the Fenwick method.

Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction of Seed Oil from Winter Melon (Benincasa hispida) and Its Antioxidant Activity and Fatty Acid Composition

The antioxidant activity of the extract obtained by SC-CO2 extraction was strongly higher than those obtained by SE and UAE and compared with published results using Soxhlet extraction (SE) and ultrasound assisted extraction (UAE).

Extraction of Beta Carotene from Palm Mesocarp via Green Sub-critical Carbon Dioxide

Experiments involving subcritical carbon dioxide extraction of palm oil from treated palm mesocarp were done to determine palm oil yield and concentration of beta-carotene. As comparison, the

Methods and Potential in Valorization of Banana Peels Waste by Various Extraction Processes: In Review

Over 114 million metric tons of bananas are produced each year. The peel, which accounts for roughly one-third of the fruit’s weight, is commonly discarded as waste in the food industry. For
