An array of quaternary ammonium functionalized-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (Q-POSS) compounds with different alkyl chain lengths and counter ions were synthesized using a two-step process. First, octasilane POSS was functionalized with dimethylamino groups by hydrosilylation with allyldimethylamine. Next, partial quaternization of the tertiaryamino-functional POSS was achieved using an alkyl halide to produce the Q-POSS. Alkyl chain length of the Q-POSS compounds varied from –C12H25 to…
A comblike polysiloxane with pendant quaternary ammonium polyether groups: its synthesis, physical properties and antibacterial performance
A series of comblike polysiloxanes (QPEPSs) with pendant quaternary ammonium polyether groups were synthesized by hydrosilylation of polymethylhydrosiloxane (PHMS) with allyl polyether epoxy
Modified Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles with a Dual Synergetic Antibacterial Effect.
Application of mesoporous silica nanoparticles as antifouling/antibacterial carriers is limited and specifically with a dual synergetic effect, but MSNs modified with quaternary ammonium salts and loaded with the biocide Parmetol S15 showed high antibacterial performance confirming their dual activity.
Application of Spectroscopic Methods in the Studies of Polysiloxanes, Cubic  Oligomeric Silsesquioxanes, and Spherosilicates Modified by Organic Functional Groups via Hydrosilylation
Organosilicon compounds whose structure is based on the stable Si–O bonds show high chemical and thermal stability. Incorporation of organic groups into their molecules results in the materials which
Development of bio-active polypropylene fiber containing QA-POSS nanoparticles
Antimicrobial polypropylene (PP) fibers were produced using polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) nanoparticles during melt spinning process. Octa ammonium POSS (QA-POSS) was used in three

Biocidal polymers active by contact. V. Synthesis of polysiloxanes with biocidal activity
Polysiloxanes with 3-(alkyldimethylammonio)propyl pendant groups were synthesized by quaternization of n-octyldimethylamine or n-dodecyldimethylamine with linear polysiloxanes containing
Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activities of New Water-Soluble Bis-Quaternary Ammonium Methacrylate Polymers
New methacrylate monomers containing pendant quaternary ammonium moieties based on 1,4-diazabicyclo-[2.2.2]-octane (DABCO) were synthesized. The DABCO group contains either a butyl or a hexyl pendant
Polysilsesquioxanes and Oligosilsesquioxanes Substituted by Alkylammonium Salts as Antibacterial Biocides
Octa(3-chloropropylsilsesquioxane), (T-ClPr)8, and a soluble, low molecular weight, poly(3-chloropropylsilsesquioxane) were subjected to a reaction with dimethyl-n-octylamine to convert part or
Amphiphilic block and statistical siloxane copolymers with antimicrobial activity

Quaternary ammonium functionalized poly(propylene imine) dendrimers as effective antimicrobials: structure-activity studies.
Quaternary ammonium functionalized poly(propyleneimine) dendrimers were synthesized and their antibacterial properties were evaluated using a bioluminescence method, finding that the antimicrobial properties of these novel biocides with bromide anions are more potent than those with chloride anions.
Synthesis and characterization of an isocyanate functionalized polyhedral oligosilsesquioxane and the subsequent formation of an organic-inorganic hybrid polyurethane.
The synthesis and characterization of a novel POSS possessing eight isocyanate groups is reported via the hydrosilylation of octakis(hydridodimethylsiloxy)octasilsesquioxane (Q8M8H) and m-isopropenyl-alpha,alpha'-dimethylbenzyl isOCyanate (m-TMI).
