The methanol leaf extracts of Acacia nilotica, Sida cordifolia, Tinospora cordifolia, Withania somnifer and Ziziphus mauritiana showed significant antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Staphylococcus aureus and Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. malvacearum and antifungal activity against Aspergillus flavus, Dreschlera turcica and Fusarium verticillioides when compare to root/ bark extracts. A. nilotica and S. cordifolia leaf extract showed highest…

Tables from this paper

Phytochemical screening and comparative analysis of antimicrobial activity of root and leaf extracts of Tinospora coridifolia, Phyllanthus niruri and Abrus precatorious, important medicinal plants
TLDR
This study validates the use of tested medicinal plants in the treatment of various diseases as well as investigates the antibacterial and antifungal activities of the ethanolic extracts of Tinospora cordifolia Miers and Abrus precatorius.
In vitro Antimicrobial Activity and Qualitative Phytochemical Analysis of Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal Extracts
The antibacterial activity of various solvent extracts of stem of Withania somnifera was evaluated against gram negative bacteria Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and
Phytochemical Screening and Antimicrobial Activity of the Leaf Extract of Mirabilis jalapa Against Pathogenic Microorganisms
TLDR
It appeared that M. jalapa could be a potential natural source of new antimicrobial agent.
Antibacterial activity of some medicinal plant extracts
TLDR
Comparision of data in the inhibition zones of pathogenic bacteria showed that gentamycin, ofloxacin, kanamycin and tobramycin were effective against all of the bacterial strains tested.
ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY AND PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING OF PTEROSPERMUM RETICULATUM WIGHT & ARN.
TLDR
The in vitro antimicrobial activity of leaf and stem extracts of Pterospermum reticulatum was carried out against 4 bacterial and 3 fungal strains and revealed the presence of phenols, glycosides, tannins, saponins and terpenoids.
Antimicrobial activity and phytochemical analysis of selected Indian folk medicinal plants
TLDR
The results provide justification for the use of the plants in folk medicine for the treatment of various bacterial and fungal infections and antibacterial activity but not antifungal activity against any of the fungi used.
Antifungal Activity of Plant Extracts Against Some Storage Seed Borne Fungi of Sunflower
TLDR
Aqueous leaf extracts of Withania somnifera,Acacia nilotica showed highest antifungal activity and as Concentration increases inhibitory activity of leaf extract also increases.
ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITIES OF THE EXTRACT AND FRACTIONS OF AERIAL PARTS OF HELIOTROPIUM BACCIFERUM
TLDR
The result against various microorganisms shows the therapeutic potential of the plant H. bacciferum, which showed significant antibacterial and antifungal activities.
Phytochemical Analysis and Antimicrobial Activity of Leaf and Stem Extracts of Priva cordifolia (L.f.) Druce
TLDR
The preliminary phytochemical screening and antimicrobial activity of leaf and stem extracts of Priva cordifolia belongs to family Verbenaceae revealed the presence of alkaloids, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, anthraquinones and glycosides, and it was concluded that the plant extract showed antimicrobial Activity.
ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF METHANOL EXTRACTS OF SOME TRADITIONAL MEDICINAL PLANTS FROM TAMIL NADU, INDIA
TLDR
It can be concluded that the methanol extract possesses potent bactericidal and fungicidal activity which in turn may be due to the presence of biologically active ingredients with antimicrobial activity in the medicinal plants.
