Hyptis pectinata, popularly known in Brazil as “sambacaitá” or “canudinho,” is an aromatic shrub largely grown in the northeast of Brazil. The leaves and bark are used in an infusion for the treatment of throat and skin inflammations, bacterial infections, pain, and cancer. Analogues of rosmarinic acid and flavonoids were obtained from the leaves of Hyptis pectinata and consisted of two new compounds, sambacaitaric acid (1) and 3-O-methyl-sambacaitaric acid (2), and nine known compounds…

Antiproliferative and apoptosis effect of hyptolide from Hyptis pectinata (L.) Poit on human breast cancer cells
Hyptolide was isolated from the leaves of Hyptis pectinata (L.) Poit and was studied in order to discover and develop an anticancer drug. Hyptolide was obtained as a crystal of 87°C–88°C melting
Antileishmanial Activity of Medicinal Plants Used in Endemic Areas in Northeastern Brazil
TLDR
This study investigates the leishmanicidal activity of five species of plants used in folk medicine in endemic areas of the state of Alagoas, Brazil and concludes that the five plants exhibited considerable leish manicidal activity.
Synthesis and antibacterial activity of epoxide from hyptolide (Hyptis pectinata (L.) Poit) against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
Recently, drug resistance due to excessive use of antibiotics has become a severe problem, and alternative antibiotics’ development has become an urgent problem. Epoxy hyptolide is a compound of the
Chemical diversity of essential oils from Hyptis pectinata (L.) Poit
TLDR
Results of the present study indicate variation in the essential oil content, and show that the compounds β-elemene, β-caryophyllene, germacrene D, (Z)-β-guaiene, caryophyLLene oxide and calamusenone were detected in greater proportions in native plants of H. pectinata of the state of Sergipe.
valuation of the orofacial antinociceptive profile of the ethyl acetate raction and its major constituent , rosmarinic acid , from the leaves of yptis pectinata on rodents osângela
TLDR
It was showed that oral administration of ethyl acetate fraction produced potent antinociceptive effects compared to treatment with rosmarinic acid, which produced significant ant inociception effects in the capsaicin and glutamate tests.
Essential Oils of Hyptis pectinata Chemotypes: Isolation, Binary Mixtures and Acute Toxicity on Leaf-Cutting Ants
TLDR
The objective of this work was to evaluate the formicidal activity of the essential oils of two Hyptis pectinata genotypes (chemotypes) and their major compounds on the leaf-cutting ants Acromyrmex balzani Emery and Atta sexdens rubropilosa Forel.
A Comprehensive Review of Rosmarinic Acid: From Phytochemistry to Pharmacology and Its New Insight
Polyphenolic acids are the widely occurring natural products in almost each herbal plant, among which rosmarinic acid (RA, C18H16O8) is well-known, and is present in over 160 species belonging to

Caffeic acid esters and lignans from Piper sanguineispicum.
TLDR
Three new caffeic acid esters, four new lignans, and the known compounds (7'S)-parabenzlactone, dihydrocubebin, and justiflorinol have been isolated from leaves of Piper sanguineispicum by spectroscopic methods and chemical methods.
Investigation of the flavonoidal constituents and insecticidal activity of Teucrium zanonii
Teucrium zanonii (Family labiateae) is an endemic Libyan plant growing in many regions around Benghazy city. Investigation of the flavonoidal constituents of plant led to isolation of Cirsiliol,

Two new potent inhibitors of xanthine oxidase from leaves of Perilla frutescens Britton var. acuta Kudo.
TLDR
Both caffeic esters strongly inhibited XO in vitro and especially, the inhibition by 1 was as potent as that by allopurinol and the inhibition mode of 1 was also shown to be non-competitive.
Flavonoid aglycones from the leaf surfaces of someLabiatae species
TLDR
The distribution of excreted flavonoid aglycones within the familyLabiatae was studied and differences were found, especially in the A-ring substitution patterns, which are characteristic of species of Salvia, Rosmarinus andOcimum.
Morphological, agronomical and pharmacological characterization of Hyptis pectinata (L.) Poit germplasm
TLDR
It can be concluded that the accessions SAM004, SAM005 and SAM006 are promising genotypes for a plant breeding program that aims the development of a cultivar with highest leave yielding and anti-edematogenic effect.
The anti-Helicobacter pylori flavones in a Brazilian plant, Hyptis fasciculata, and the activity of methoxyflavones.
TLDR
Two known flavonoids were isolated from a tropical medicinal plant, Hyptis fasciculata (Labiatae), found in Brazil and exhibited potent antibacterial activity against Helicobacter pylori, and cirsilineol had weak antib bacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Salmonella enteritidis.
