Phytochemical study of the leaves and stems of Calea zacatechichi Schl. (Asteraceae) led to the isolation of a series of six germacranolides (1-6) with significant antileishmanial activity. The structure of a new compound named by us as calealactone D (1) was determined by NMR and MS, and its absolute configuration by X-ray crystallography. In addition, calealactone E (5) was discovered as a new naturally occurring compound, and the absolute configuration of calealactone C (2) was also… Expand
Cytotoxic sesquiterpene lactones from Campuloclinium macrocephalum (=Eupatorium macrocephalum).
TLDR
Three undescribed germacranolide sesquiterpene lactones, named macrocephalides A-C, along with known steroids, triterpenes and flavonoids were isolated from the aerial parts of Campuloclinium macrocephalum and exhibited moderate to potent cytotoxic activity. Expand
Chromenes from leaves of Calea pinnatifida and evaluation of their leishmanicidal activity
TLDR
The isolated chromenes 1 and 3 show a moderate leishmanicidal activity, and the isolated compounds are here reported for the first time in C. pinnatifida. Expand
Lactonas sesquiterpénicas. Diversidad estructural y sus actividades biológicas
TLDR

Antileishmanial activity and ultrastructural changes of sesquiterpene lactones isolated from Calea pinnatifida (Asteraceae).
TLDR
The results obtained highlighted the importance of studying sesquiterpene lactones isolated from Calea pinnatifida in terms of antileishmanial activity, in order to understand the mechanism of action of the isolated compounds in promastigotes forms of L. amazonensis. Expand
Sesquiterpene Lactones from Calea pinnatifida: Absolute Configuration and Structural Requirements for Antitumor Activity
TLDR
The results are promising and suggest the importance of studying sesquiterpene lactones isolated from C. pinnatifida in terms of antitumor activity, especially considering the effects of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl systems. Expand

TLDR
In this review, the literature data up to December 2016 is compiled, furnishing a comprehensive survey about medicinal uses, chemistry, and biological activities from Calea species. Expand
Anatomical Characters of Leave and Stem of Calea serrata Less., Asteraceae
TLDR
The present work aimed to study the pharmacobotanical characters of leaves and stems of C. serrata for quality control purposes and found circular shape with six ribs in the stem were important characters, which contributed to the identification of the species. Expand
The anticancer activity of dichloromethane crude extract obtained from Calea pinnatifida
TLDR
Evaluated the anticancer activity of DCE performed in sulforhodamine B cytotoxicity in vitro assay against human cancer cell lines and in vivo Ehrlich models showed a high potency and selectivity for the melanoma and kidney cell line. Expand
