Studies were carried out to determine the antihypertensive effects of the 5-hydroxy derivative (ORF 12,592) of propranolol. Acute administration of ORF 12,592 produced a reduction in mean systolic blood pressure in desoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) rats and in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). Propranolol was not effective in DOCA rats and produced a significant blood pressure reduction in SHR 48 hr after acute administration. These results demonstrated antihypertensive activity of an… Expand

On acute hypotensive effects of pindolol and propranolol in conscious rats
TLDR
An acute hypotensive effect of pindolol or propranolol have been identified in conscious normotensive and experimental hypertensive rats and were abolished by systemic administration of 6-OHDA or by pretreatment with indomethacin. Expand
4‐Hydroxypropranolol and its glucuronide after single and long‐term doses of propranolol
TLDR
A significant contribution of HO‐P to pharmacologic effects is suggested at low single and long‐term oral doses of propranolol and saturation of naphthalene ring oxidation as a main determinant of proPRanolol bioavailability is suggested. Expand
