Low folate levels have consistently been reported in patients with epilepsy on phenytoin (PHT), phenobarbital (PB) and primidone (PRD), while data on valproate (VPA) are conflicting. Furthermore, antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) may be associated with high levels of plasma total homocysteine (p-tHcy).
