The present study evaluated the anti-hyperglycemic activty of the aqueous extracts of Cinnamomum tamala (CTLEt) leaves on blood glucose of albino rats. CTLEt was administered at doses of 125 and 250 mg/kg body weight respectively on streptozotocin induced diabetic rats for 3 weeks. Diabetic rats had much reduced body weight than normal rats. Administration of the extracts at the dose of 250 mg/kg body wt. /day resulted in a marked decrease in the levels of fasting blood glucose and urine sugar…

Figures and Tables from this paper

Antihyperlipidemic effect of the aqueous extract from Cinnamomum tamala leaf in hyperlipidemi c rats
TLDR
CTLE showed a significant antihyperlipidemic effect in both high fat diet and Triton X100-induced hyperlipidemia rats in a dose-dependent manner during 28 days and 7 days of treatment period.
Antihyperglycemic and Antioxidant Activity of Fructus hordei Germinatus Extract on Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats
TLDR
The results suggest that FHGE may effectively normalize the impaired antioxidant status in streptozotocin-induced diabetes in a dose-dependent manner and has a protective effect against lipid peroxidation by scavenging free radicals and is thus capable of reducing the risk of diabetic complications.
Evaluation of cardioprotective activity of ethanolic extract of dried leaves of Cinnamomum tamala in rats
TLDR
The study confirms the cardioprotective potential of EECT against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in rats.
Antihyperglycemic and Hypolipidemic effects of Tamarindus indica L.: A Potential agent for treatment of metabolic syndrome
TLDR
The results suggested that the hydroalcoholic extracts having more antidiabetic, hypolipidemic potential in comparison with aqueous extracts of Tamarindus indica leaves.

TLDR
It is deliberated that PHF has the favorable effect to normalize the blood glucose levels, and also rejuvenation and reproduction of beta cells lead a better futuristic ant diabetic therapy for diabetic management.
Grape Seed Proanthocyanidin Extract Improved some of Biochemical Parameters and Antioxidant Disturbances of Red Blood Cells in Diabetic Rats
TLDR
The results suggest that GSPE can ameliorate biochemical abnormalities and antioxidant system status in streptozotocin- induced diabetic rats probably by its potent antioxidant features.
Effect of Cichorium endivia Leaves on Some Biochemical Parameters in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats
TLDR
The results obtained clearly indicate the role of oxidative stress in induction of diabetes and suggest protective and/or ameliorative effects of C. endivia leaves powder aqueous suspension, similar to the diabetic drug (glibenclamide) effects in this animal model.
GC-MS analysis and screening of antidiabetic, antioxidant and hypolipidemic potential of Cinnamomum tamala oil in streptozotocin induced diabetes mellitus in rats
TLDR
Investigation of Cinnamomum tamala oil in streptozotocin induced diabetes in rats revealed that CTO has significant antidiabetic, antioxidant and hypolipidemic activity.
