Discontinuation symptoms are recognised with tricyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and miscellaneous antidepressants. A wide variety of symptoms have been described, differing somewhat between antidepressant classes, and several symptom clusters or discontinuation syndromes appear to exist.
