Genomic Features of High-Level Gentamicin-Resistant Enterococcus faecalis Strain LREF-1 from India
Enterococcus faecalis strain LREF-1 was isolated from a urine sample from India; it belongs to sequence type 28 (ST28), which is associated with nosocomial infections. The strain carries genes for
Antibacterial activity of ethanolic plant extracts on multidrug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates
Ethanolic extract of Piper betle L. leaf can be a suitable alternative or adjunct for the treatment of MDR A. baumannii infections, and shows a very strong anti-bacterial activity against MDR Acinetobacter baumANNii strains.
Microbiological spectrum of ocular infections in patients of tertiary care eye hospital of Punjab
This study isolates and identifies the bacterial and fungal pathogens responsible for the development of ocular infections and to determine their in vitro susceptibilities to commonly used antibiotics.
Virulence factors in multidrug (MDR) and Pan-drug resistant (XDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa: a cross-sectional study of isolates recovered from ocular infections in a high-incidence setting in southern India
P. aeruginosa might be responsible for increased colonization and antibiotic resistance observed in vivo and understanding these differences may lead to development of clinical guidelines for the management of MDR infections.
Isolation, Identification and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Profiles of Staphylococcus Isolates from Dairy Farms in and Around Modjo Town, Ethiopia
A cross sectional study was conducted between December 2015 to April 2016 in and around Modjo town, central Ethiopia aiming at isolation and identification Staphylococci from dairy cattle farms and
1,3‐Diazepine: A privileged scaffold in medicinal chemistry
This review endeavours to highlight the main use of the 1,3‐diazepine scaffold and its derivatives, and their applications in medicinal chemistry, drug design, and therapy, and will focus more particularly on the development of enzyme inhibitors incorporating this scaffold.
Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing for Corynebacterium Pseudodiphtheriticum
The results of antibiotic susceptibility testing for C.pseudodiphtheriticum showed all isolates resistance to erythromycin and tetrasikline, and resistance profile showed multi drug resistance against to antibiotics such as penicillin, moxifloxacin, gentamicin, vancomycin, tetracyclines, clindamycin and linezolid.
Survey of the Germ Antibiorésistance Implied In Infections of the Surgical Site Infection (SSI) To the General Hospital Of National Reference (HGNR) Of N’Djamena (CHAD)
There is a need of training in hygiene and antimicrobial stewardship at surgery unit of the national referral hospital in N’Djamena (CHAD), and a total of 51 cases of surgical site infections have been recorded.
Incidence of enterococci resistant to clinically relevant antibiotics in environmental waters and in reclaimed waters used for irrigation.
Environmental and wastewater samples were studied to identify the possibility of a positive selection of antibiotic-resistant organisms in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), and WWTPs were able to reduce the levels of antibiotic resistance.

Mechanisms of resistance to quinolones: target alterations, decreased accumulation and DNA gyrase protection.
  • J. Ruiz
  • Biology
    The Journal of antimicrobial chemotherapy
  • 2003
Two mechanisms of quinolone resistance have been established to date: alterations in the targets ofQuinolones, and decreased accumulation due to impermeability of the membrane and/or an overexpression of efflux pump systems.
Balanitis por Ewingella americana en un paciente inmunodeprimido
A case of balanitis resistent to antifungal therapy in a heterosexual, intravenous drug abuser AIDS,s patient is reported. The biological examination revealed the presence of grammnegative bacillus
Foodborne antimicrobial resistance as a biological hazard
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) asked its Panel on Biological Hazards to 15 identify, from a public health perspective, the extent to which food serves as a source for the 16 acquisition,
Probiotics in Aquaculture
Probiotics are used for: alternative measures to control the fish diseases, to promote health and finally formulate balanced diets for a better growth.
Stepwise Multiple Comparison Procedures
Abstract This article proposes two new stepwise multiple comparison significance tests which control the experimentwise type I error rate and compares these tests with some existing procedures. The
A Study of the Powers of Several Methods of Multiple Comparisons
Abstract Powers of multiple comparisons procedures are studied for fixed maximal experimentwise levels. Analytical considerations show Tukey-Scheffe methods to have least power, Duncan's to be
Agricultural Composting in the United States
In the United States, more farms are composting than municipalities, commercial/institutional establishments, and other private sector groups combined. To obtain an overview of agricultural
