  • The two main components of black seed essential oil, thymoquinone (TQ) and thymohydroquinone (THQ) were investigated for their antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Shigella flexneri, Salmonella Typhimurium, Salmonella Enteritidis and Staphylococcus aureus. Both TQ and THQ exerted antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria regardless to their susceptibility to antibiotics.
