The antibacterial activities of four important seaweeds namely Ulva lactuca, Padina gymnospora, Sargassum wightii and Gracilaria edulis were screened against human bacterial pathogens Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio cholerae, Shigella dysentriae, Shigella bodii, Salmonella paratyphi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumonia. The maximum activity (8.8 mm) was recorded from the extract of G. edulis against S. aureus and minimum (1.2 mm) by U. lactuca against P. aeruginosa. The H-NMR analysis… Expand
