Abstract Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activities of standardised pomegranate rind extract (SPRE) containing 13% w/w ellagic acid were studied in vitro . The antibacterial activity of SPRE was determined using the disc diffusion and broth microdilution methods. SPRE exhibited a potent bacteriostatic effect against Propionibacterium acnes , a Gram-positive anaerobe, with a MIC of 15.6 μg/ml, and Gram-positive facultative anaerobic bacteria , Staphylococcus aureus and… Expand
Hop Extract Acts as an Antioxidant with Antimicrobial Effects against Propionibacterium Acnes and Staphylococcus Aureus
TLDR
Assessment of the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial potential of a hop-CO2-extract with 50% humulone and lupulone found it to be a treatment option for acne-prone skin. Expand

Topical anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities of standardized pomegranate rind extract in comparison with its marker compound ellagic acid in vivo.
TLDR
The results clearly demonstrated that SPRE is a promising phytomedicine that could find use in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. Expand
Anti-inflammatory potential of ellagic acid, gallic acid and punicalagin A&B isolated from Punica granatum
TLDR
Evaluated compounds ellagic acid, gallic acid and punicalagin may be the compounds responsible for the anti-inflammatory potential of P. granatum, and potentially inhibited LPS-induced NO, PGE-2 and IL-6 production. Expand
Ellagic acid modulates the expression of oral innate immune mediators: potential role in mucosal protection.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that oral innate immunity is affected by EA found in fruits, which means that EA may play some roles in mucosal innate immunity and may lead to developing a new topical agent to treat and/or prevent immune-mediated oral diseases. Expand
Topical Anti‐inflammatory Potential of Standardized Pomegranate Rind Extract and Ellagic Acid in Contact Dermatitis
TLDR
The results indicated that topical application of SPRE and EA is promising for use in the treatment of inflammatory skin disorders. Expand
Comparative study of the anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive effects of two varieties of Punica granatum
TLDR
The results demonstrated that P. granatum contains active constituents, which possess antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activity, justifying its popular uses. Expand
The In vitro Antibacterial Activity of Dried Flowers Used in Guangdong Traditional Soup
TLDR
The antibacterial activity of Cordyceps militaris was the strongest, and Flos sophorae and Lonicera japonica followed, and the antibacterial effect of ethanol-water extract was higher than that of deionized water extract. Expand
Protective effects of an aqueous Pericarpium Granati extract against inflammatory damage in mice
The protective effect of an aqueous Pericarpium Granati extract (APG) against carrageenan-induced inflammatory damage in mice was investigated. The results showed that APG displayed radicalExpand
Phyto-chemical analysis, anti-allergic and anti- inflammatory activity of Mentha arvensis in animals
TLDR
The qualitative and quantitative determination of phyto-chemicals and assessment of the anti-allergic and antiinflammatory activities using aqueous and organic extracts of different plant parts (root, stem and leaves) of Mentha Arvensis in animals showed that all parts of M. arvensis are rich source of secondary phytoconstituents, which impart their therapeutic effects against allergic and inflammatory diseases.
