ABSTRACT The activity of ranbezolid (RBX 7644), a new oxazolidinone, against 306 anaerobes was compared with those of 11 other agents. The MICs at which 50% of the isolates tested are inhibited and those at which 90% of the isolates tested are inhibited (in micrograms per milliliter) were as follows: ranbezolid, 0.03 and 0.5; linezolid, 2 and 4; vancomycin, >16 and >16; teicoplanin, 1 and >16; quinupristin-dalfopristin, 1 and >8; amoxicillin-clavulanate, 0.5 and 2; imipenem, 0.125 and 1… Expand
[Linezolid: antibacterial activity, clinical efficacy and resistance].
TLDR
In a context where resistance to traditional treatments in enterococci, pneumococci and S. aureus do not cease to increase, linezolid can be regarded as a therapeutic alternative to treat the infections with Gram-positive cocci. Expand
Anti-anaerobic potential of ranbezolid: insight into its mechanism of action against Bacteroides fragilis.
TLDR
The potent and fast protein synthesis inhibition along with an additional mode of action of cell wall synthesis inhibition could be responsible for the cidal effect of ranbezolid against Gram-negative anaerobes. Expand
Synthesis of carbohydrazides and carboxamides as anti-tubercular agents.
TLDR
A novel series of furan/thiophene carbohydrazides and carboxamides synthesized and evaluated for anti-TB and cytotoxic activities exhibited good absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion and drug-likeness in-silico and may be considered as potential leads for further drug development. Le linézolide : activité antibactérienne, intérêts cliniques et résistance
TLDR
In a context where resistance to traditional treatments in enterococci, pneumococci and S. aureus do not cease to increase, linezolid can be regarded as a therapeutic alternative to treat the infections with Gram-positive cocci. Expand
Antimicrobial susceptibility of bifidobacteria.
TLDR
Bifidobacteria, with their low natural and acquired resistance to 30 antibiotics, appear risk-free, according to a general concern about the safety of probiotics, such as potential transferability of resistance determinants. Expand
Oxazolidinones: activity, mode of action, and mechanism of resistance.
TLDR
Linezolid, the first oxazolidinone available, has already taken its place in the clinic for treatment of Gram-positive infections and pharmacokinetic properties as well as its good penetration and accumulation in the tissue, allow its use for surgical infections. Expand
Activities of Tizoxanide and Nitazoxanide Compared to Those of Five Other Thiazolides and Three Other Agents against Anaerobic Species
TLDR
Agar dilution was used, and metronidazole MICs were usually lower against all groups except clostridia, andNitazoxanide and tizoxanides were active against allgroups, except for gram-positive non-spore-forming rods with 50% minimum inhibitory concentrations. Expand
Activity of OPT-80, a Novel Macrocycle, Compared with Those of Eight Other Agents against Selected Anaerobic Species
ABSTRACT Agar dilution MIC was used to compare activities of OPT-80, linezolid, vancomycin, teicoplanin, quinupristin/dalfopristin, amoxicillin/clavulanate, imipenem, clindamycin, and metronidazoleExpand
In vitro activity of RBx 7644 (ranbezolid) on biofilm producing bacteria.
TLDR
It is indicated that ranbezolid had potent activity against adherent staphylococci isolates and may prove useful in the prevention and treatment of device related infections caused by staphyllococci. Expand
Recent advances in oxazolidinone antibacterial agent research
TLDR
New understanding of the oxazolidinone structure–activity relationship has led to an increased spectrum of activity to include the fastidious Gram-negative pathogens Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis. Expand
