The ethanolic extracts of leaves of Psidium guajava (PG), Pandanous odorus (PO),Rhinacanthus nasutus (RN) contained polyphenolic compounds in the order of PG > RN > PO. All the extracts exhibited 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2’-azino-bis 3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) radicals scavenging activities. PG showed a marked antioxidant effect whereas PO and RN were comparable. Interestingly, they were able to bind with ferric (Fe3+) and ferrous (Fe2+) ion and completed…

TLDR
Ficus benjamina, FI, and FK extracts contain various phytochemicals which confirm that these plants can be used for therapeutic use and traditional medicine.
APPLICATION OF ESSENTIAL OILS FROM TWO SPECIES OF THE RUTACEAE FAMILY AS CELLULAR OXIDATION CONTROLLER AGENT AND TRYPANOCIDAL CAPACITY
TLDR
This is the first time, that oils of S. glutinosa and C. aurantium, have high activity against T. cruzi in vitro; capacity that could be directly associated to the chemotype of they, one of which appears not to be found in other research.
Antidiabetic activity of Rhinacanthins-rich extract and Rhinacanthin-C
TLDR
Kinetic studies revealed that both RRE and RC exhibited noncompetitive α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, while combinations of either RRE or rhinacanthin-C with acarbose (competitive inhibitor) at low concentrations showed a synergistic inhibitory effect.
Assessment of hemolytic effect of Cassia flower extracts on human RBCs
RBC membrane can be affected by consumption of bioactive compounds from herbs and medicinal plants. This study aimed to assess hemolytic effect of crude ethyl acetate and acetone extract from Cassia
Potential of rare actinomycetes in the production of metabolites against multiple oxidant agents
TLDR
The presence of nonidentical metabolites might be responsible for antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities of S. ecbatanensis, newly described actinobacterium in family Pseudonocardiaceae.
Guava leaves polyphenolics-rich extract inhibits vital enzymes implicated in gout and hypertension in vitro
TLDR
Guava leaves extract could serve as functional food for managing gout and hypertension and attenuating the oxidative stress associated with both diseases.
Rhinacanthus nasutus “Tea” Infusions and the Medicinal Benefits of the Constituent Phytochemicals
TLDR
This review assesses the recent research into the role of Rn and its constituent compounds in a range of diseases such as Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, diabetes and infection with bacteria, fungi or viruses.

Inhibitory Effects of Cocoa Flavanols and Procyanidin Oligomers on Free Radical-Induced Erythrocyte Hemolysis
TLDR
Results show cocoa flavanols and procyanidins can provide membrane protective effects and enhanced resistance to hemolysis was observed when erythrocytes from animals fed the cocoa extract were mixed with plasma obtained from animals given water only.
Anticough and antimicrobial activities of Psidium guajava Linn. leaf extract.
New benzophenone and quercetin galloyl glycosides from Psidium guajava L.
TLDR
Isolated phenolic glycosides showed significant inhibitory activities against histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells, and nitric oxide production from a murine macrophage-like cell line, RAW 264.

TLDR
It is concluded that the methanolic extract of leaves of Psidium guajava plant possesses better hepatoprotective activity compared to other extracts.
Antiproliferative activity of Rhinacanthus nasutus (L.) Kurz extracts and the active moiety, Rhinacanthin C.
TLDR
The antiproliferative activity of the ethanol extract of root and aqueous extract of leaves of R. nasutus, and the supposed active moiety rhinacanthin C was assessed in vitro using the human cervical carcinoma cell line HeLa and in vivo using sarcoma 180-bearing mice.
Antitumor activity of liposomal naphthoquinone esters isolated from Thai medicinal plant: Rhinacanthus nasutus KURZ.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that rhinacanthin-N suppressed tumor growth in vivo, and suggested that liposomes are useful for preparing injectable formulation of hydrophobic drugs.
Antioxidant and radical scavenging properties of curcumin.
[Structure-activity relationships of phenylethanoid glycosides in plants of Cistanche salsa on antioxidative activity].
TLDR
The antioxidative activity of phenylethanoid glycosides is related to the number of phenolic hydroxyl, steric hindrance, 2-acetyl on the middle glucopyranose, and the location of Phenolic Hydroxyl.
