BackgroundBauhinia kockiana originates from Peninsular Malaysia and it is grown as a garden ornamental plant. Our previous study reported that this plant exhibited fairly strong antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. This paper focused on the assessment of the antibacterial activity of B. kockiana towards methicillin-resistance Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), to purify and to identify the antibacterial compounds, and to determine the mechanism of antibacterial activity.MethodsAntibacterial…

Tellimagrandin II, A Type of Plant Polyphenol Extracted from Trapa bispinosa Inhibits Antibiotic Resistance of Drug-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

The antibacterial effects of TGII against MRSA are evidenced, which enables the effective dose of current antibiotics to be reduced and the predicament of drug-resistant S. aureus isolates to be overcome.

Antimicrobial Potential Activity of Extract Selaginella plana (Desv. Ex Poir.) Hieron against the Growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25922 and Methicillin-Resistance Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

In MBC test, the killing power of Selaginella plana extract against Staphylococcus aureus obtained MBC value of 12.5% and MRSA bacteria showed negative results, which were positive.

Catechin isolated from cashew nut shell exhibits antibacterial activity against clinical isolates of MRSA through ROS-mediated oxidative stress

Results suggest that catechin is a promising lead compound with antibacterial potential against MRSA and bacterial cell wall damage was caused by catechu in MRSA strains.

In vitro antibacterial activity of Acorus calamus extract on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus wound isolates and reduced invasion into mucosal fibroblasts

A correlation of polyphenolics and flavonoid based major phytochemical constituents with bioactivities on MRSA revealed A. calamus as a potential non-toxic drug candidate for various skin diseases.

Antimicrobial, cytotoxic and mutagenic activities of Bauhinia holophylla hydroalcoholic extract

The results contribute to valuable data on the antimicrobial potential of B. hoplophylla but suggest caution in their use.

UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS analysis and antibacterial activity of the Manilkara zapota (L.) P. Royen against Escherichia coli and other MDR bacteria.

The extract showed direct antibacterial activity against the standard Staphylococcus aureus strain, however, it either acted antagonistically when associated with the tested antibiotics, or it did not present statistical significance when compared to the control.

Antibacterial Activity of Bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides L) Leaves Extracts Against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Indonesia is a rich archipelago with an abundance of natural plants to explore, and one of them is bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides L.) plants, which grow in many Indonesian regions and are classified as tropical weeds, which provide antibacterial compounds from its secondary metabolites.
