Ganoderma lucidum fungi had been analysed for the estimation of protein and fibre content by various spectrophotometric methods, in which it had been shown that various extracts of the concerned fungi could act as a good source of proteins and fibre. Also the Anti urolithiatic and Anti Arthritis Activity of Various extracts of Ganoderma lucidum had been carried out, in which the observed results show that the concerned fungi extracts posses a good effect against urolithiatic and arthritis… Expand

In-vitro anti-arthritic activity of Abutilon indicum (Linn.) Sweet
The present study deals with anti-arthritic activity in-vitro of Abutilon indicum (Linn.) Sweet, an Indian herb, which showed dose dependent activity which was found to be better than that of acetyl salicylic acid. Expand
Tumour cell adhesion and integrin expression affected by Ganoderma lucidum
The authors' experiments indicated that G. lucidum inhibited cancer cell adhesion to different degrees, which were: sporoderm-broken spores (broken by an enzymatic method) > sporodergic spores ( broken by a physical method) • intact spores > buffer control. Expand
Bioactive biomolecules of mushrooms: Food function and medicinal effect of mushroom fungi
To utilize the full potential of mushrooms, it is necessary to consider the toxicity of poisonous ones and also improve food sanitation practices associated with cultivation, processing, preservation, and storage of edible mushrooms. Expand
Development of an in vitro Assay for the Screening of Substances Capable of Dissolving Calcium Oxalate Crystals
A simple assay that requires only inexpensive equipment available in most laboratories for the screening of substances potentially capable of dissolving CaOx crystals was developed, and a good linear correlation was found between the affinity for calcium and the activity of EDTA, sodium citrate, sodium sulfate, malic acid, succinic acid and gluconic acid. The search for novel drug leads for predominately antitumor therapies by utilizing mother nature's pharmacophoric libraries.
It can be concluded that, despite a perceived lack of popularity in recent years, the use of natural product scaffolds in searching for drug leads is still being practiced. Expand
Calcium phosphate stones produced by Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells inoculated in nude mice
It is speculated that OPN and CPT play important roles in stone formation by MDCK cells, and the relationship between the mechanism of the stone formation and these stone matrix proteins is not yet known. Expand
Fruit, vegetables, and cancer prevention: a review of the epidemiological evidence.
It would appear that major public health benefits could be achieved by substantially increasing consumption of fruit and vegetable consumption, and in particular in cancers of the esophagus, oral cavity, and larynx, for which 28 of 29 studies were significant. Expand
