Study was conducted to test the hypothesis that Mor inga oleifera Lam. leave has hepatoprotective as we ll as antioxidant activity. For this purpose, a study was designed us ing alcoholic extracts of Moringa oleifera leave pr oduce significant hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity. The acti vity was tested in wistar albino rats at dose level s of 125, 250 & 500 mg/kg, orally and compared with ranitidine (50 mg/kg) as standard. During the ulcer condition, there was an increase i n gastric… Expand
Effect of Moringa oleifera leaves extract on the oxidative stress and gastric mucosal ulcer induced by indomethacin in rats
TLDR
It is concluded that MOELE has an effective antiulcer and antioxidant activities and can scavenge the free radicals and protect gastric against ulceration. Expand
Assessment of the antiulcer potential of Moringa oleifera root-bark extract in rats.
TLDR
It is suggested that MO possesses valuable antiulcer, antisecretory, and cytoprotective activity and an ethanolic root-bark extract of Moringa oleifera can be used as source for an anti-ulcer drug. Expand
Study of the mechanism of anti-ulcer effects of virgin coconut oil on gastric ulcer-induced rat model
TLDR
Virgin coconut oil shows a possible association with antioxidant properties to control the regulation of prostaglandin synthesis and protect against reactive oxygen species damage. Expand
Comparative study on the effectiveness of gum arabic Acacia senegal and Moringa oleifera extracts on prevention of peptic ulcer in the experimental rats
TLDR
The results indicated that rats in groups G6 and G3 had the highest increase in number of their WBC and in their HP as compared to (G+), while Histological study revealed the absence of histopathological changes in G3 and G6, while other groups showed mucosal vascular congestion and submucosal edema with inflammatory cell infiltration. Protective effects of Dialium guineense pulp on aspirin-induced gastric mucosal injury in albino rats
TLDR
DAGP exhibited anti-ulcer potential and that the gastrointestinal protection may be through the scavenging action of free radicals by its constituent antioxidants, thus, Dialium guineense pulp has ameliorative medicinal potential for the curing of gastric disorders. Expand
Ulcer Protective Activity of Ethanolic Extract of Homalomena aromatica (Spreng.) Schott. (Araceae) Root
TLDR
The extract showed potential ulcero protective property in animal models of ulcer and showed the presence of gallic acid and quercetin amongst other constituents. Expand
Exploring antiulcer and anti-inflammatory activities of methanolic leaves extract of an Indian mistletoe Helicantes elasticus (Desv.) Danser
Abstract The potential of methanolic leaves extract of H. elasticus in the mitigation of ulcer and inflammation was evaluated in this work. Ethanol and pylorus ligation induced rats were used for theExpand
Potential Protective Effects of Sildenafil and Moringa on Experimentally-induced Gastric Ulcer in Rats
TLDR
Both sildenafil and moringa have protective effects on the experimentally induced gastric ulcers according to the results of the present study. Expand
Histopathological Study of Hydroalcoholic Extract of Terminalia catappa Leaves in Treatment of Indomethacin-Induced Gastric Ulcer in Rats
TLDR
The flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and antioxidant properties of TCLE can decrease some of the effects of an indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer. Expand
Protective effect of fenugreek seeds (Trigonella foenum graecum) extract against experimental gastric ulcer in rats
TLDR
According to the results of the current study, fenugreek seeds extract oral usage can protect the gastric mucosa from injury and reduce erosion and ulcer in the treatment group compared to the control group. Expand

Antifertility profile of the aqueous extract of Moringa oleifera roots.
TLDR
The antifertility effect of the extract appears to be due to multiple attributes, including estrogenic, anti-estrogenic, progestational and antiprogestational activities. Expand
The effect of a traditional preparation of copper, tamrabhasma, on experimental ulcers and gastric secretion.
TLDR
The results of the present experimental studies lend credence to the suggested use of tamrabhasma in amplapitta, a condition resembling peptic ulcer, as well as any histological or biochemical evidence of liver or kidney toxicity. Expand
Studies on the antiulcer activity of Moringa oleifera leaf extract on gastric ulcer models in rats
The methanol fraction of M. oleifera leaf extract was found to possess significant protective actions in acetylsalicylic acid, serotonin and indomethacin induced gastric lesions in experimental rats.Expand
Experimental evaluation of Bocopa monniera on rat gastric ulceration and secretion.
TLDR
Ulcer protective effect of BMJ may be due to its effect on mucosal defensive factors like enhanced mucin secretion, mucosal glycoprotein and decreased cell shedding rather than on offensive factors such as acid and pepsin. Expand
Effect of stress on the antioxidant enzymes and gastric ulceration
TLDR
Administration of antioxidants such as reduced glutathione or sodium benzoate prior to stress causes significant decrease in ulcer index and lipid peroxidation and protection of gastric peroxidase activity suggesting the involvement of reactive oxygen species in stress induced gastric ulceration. Expand
Gastric and duodenal antiulcer and cytoprotective effects of proglumide in rats.
TLDR
The findings suggest that proglumide exerts these antiulcer effects by its antisecretory, gastric mucosal resistance increasing and cytoprotective activities. Expand
Pharmacological investigation of the role of leukotrienes in the pathogenesis of experimental NSAID gastropathy
TLDR
Data from this study are consistent with the hypothesis that leukotrienes contribute to the epithelial injury and macroscopically visible damage induced by NSAIDs. Expand
Moringa oleifera: a food plant with multiple medicinal uses
TLDR
Various parts of this multipurpose tree possess antitumor, antipyretic, antiepileptic, antiinflammatory, antiulcer, diuretic, antihypertensive, cholesterol lowering, antioxidant, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, antibacterial and antifungal activities, and are being employed for the treatment of different ailments in the indigenous system of medicine, particularly in South Asia. Hydroxyl radical is the major causative factor in stress-induced gastric ulceration.
TLDR
Results indicate that the stress-induced gastric ulceration is a consequence of the oxidative damage of the gastric mucosa, and the critical role of metal ion and OH. Expand
