BACKGROUND Current data suggest that excessive androgen exposure can lead to the development of polycystic ovaries and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels reflect the number of small antral follicles in the ovaries and are elevated in PCOS.
