The main objectives of this study were to identify and quantify anthocyanin content in acerola juices and to determine the antioxidant capacity of the juices. Anthocyanin content was analyzed by a high-performance liquid chromatograph connected to a diode array and mass spectrometry detectors (HPLC–DAD–MS/MS). The antioxidant capacity was determined by the 2,2´-diphenyl picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) and the oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) assays. The ascorbic acid content was determined by… Expand

Acerola (Malpighia emarginata DC): Production, Postharvest Handling, Nutrition, and Biological Activity
TLDR
This review is a complete analysis of the available information on the production and the postharvest handling of acerola fruit and information regarding the chemistry, nutrition, and potential biological activity is reviewed and put into perspective. Expand
Commercial plant extracts may act as antioxidants or pro-oxidants in cosmetic emulsions based on argan oil.
TLDR
Results show that some plant extracts, depending on storage conditions, may act as pro-oxidants, whereas the others can be applied as natural antioxidants instead of synthetic BHT. Expand

Antioxidant capacity, phenolic content, and profiling of phenolic compounds in the seeds, skin, and pulp of Vitis rotundifolia (Muscadine Grapes) As determined by HPLC-DAD-ESI-MS(n).
TLDR
The total phenolic content and antioxidant capacity, based on fresh weight, were highest in seeds followed by skin and pulp, and the phenolic compounds of diverse structures were tentatively identified in muscadine grapes. Expand
