The fractional charges in quantum hall effect and the possibility of their observation

- Physics
- 1986

Abstract The minimal charge of quasiparticles in the incompressible quantum fluid is calculated. A strong dependence of the energy gap on the value of this charge makes it possible to verify the… Expand

Our theory of the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect is reviewed. Arguments are presented that the fractionally charged quasiparticles associated with the effect are fermions. Wavefunctions for the 27… Expand

Abstract This paper gives a brief review of some recent experiments on the localization-delocalization transition in the integral quantum Hall effect and the new quantum liquid ground states giving… Expand

Quantum Hall physics : Hierarchies and conformal field theory techniques

- Physics

Quantum physics: Debut of the quarter electron

- Physics, Medicine
- Nature
- 2008

A particle-like object with a quarter of an electron's charge is the latest find in a hotbed of quantum-physical experimentation, the fractional quantum Hall fluid. Its significance is more than… Expand

Fractional quantum Hall states and chiral spin liquids

Two-Dimensional Magnetotransport in the Extreme Quantum Limit
