The dependence upon the applied field {bold H} of the Gibbs free energy difference {Delta}{ital G} between the mixed and normal states of a high-{kappa} anisotropic type-II superconductor is examined; {Delta}{ital G} is found to be a function only of the reduced field {ital h}={ital H}/{ital H}{sub {ital c}2}({theta},{phi}) for {ital H}{much gt}{ital H}{sub {ital c}1}.
