When running away, quails (Excalfactoria chinensis) try to maintain their initial direction by compensating angle deviations forced upon them by obstacles in their course. This behavior was observed in birds that passed actively through gangways as well as in birds that were transported in an open or closed railway vehicle, regardless of whether the angle deviation was caused by a turntable or by a curved rail.
