The present study describes the occurrence of an anaphylactic reaction after the administration of the fifth booster dose of DT vaccine in a six-year-old child. Skin test, in vitro determinations of specific IgE antibodies and immunoblotting assays showed that the IgE response was directed against tetanus and diphtheria toxoids (Dtx). IgG antibodies were also detected by ELISA and immunoblotting. The RAST and immunoblotting inhibitions showed no cross-reactivity between the two toxoids… Expand
Fixed drug eruption after pentavalent diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, inactivated poliovirus and Haemophilus influenzae type b combined vaccine in an infant
TLDR
This is the first reported case of FDE developing in an infant after the combined pentavalent DTaP-IPV-Hib vaccine in a 4-month-old girl in Turkey. Expand
Allergies to vaccines in children
TLDR
Systemic IgE mediated allergy to vaccines is rare in children and guidance on how to practically approach the question of a possible allergic reaction to a vaccine is offered. Expand
Acute Reaction to Pentavalent Vaccine
TLDR
Anaphylaxis to vaccines is rare and should be readily recognized and carefully appreciated, and acutely treated with adrenaline, systemic corticosteroids, volume replacement, and antihistamines. Expand

TLDR
The relatively large dose of tetanus toxoid delivered 4 times during the first 24 months of life produces detectable tetanus specific IgE antibodies as frequently as the smaller doses of venom delivered sporadically by fire ant stings in young children. Expand
Induction of protective and mucosal immunity against diphtheria by a immune stimulating complex (ISCOMS) based vaccine.
TLDR
Methods for incorporating palmitified diphtheria toxoid (DT) into ISCOMS are established and the resulting formulation was immunogenic by the subcutaneous, oral and intranasal routes, with very low doses of DT inducing systemic humoral immune responses, as well as cell mediated immunity. Expand
Vaccination and anaphylaxis: a forensic perspective
TLDR
In any suspected IgE-mediated fatal anaphylactic cases, biochemical investigations should be systematically performed for forensic purposes in order to establish or rule out a cause-and-effect relationship between vaccine administration and any presumptive temporarily-related death. Expand
Pentapeptide commonality between Corynebacterium diphtheriae toxin and the Homo sapiens proteome.
TLDR
The data presented in this article offer a rational basis for designing peptide-based vaccines that specifically target diphtheria toxin and thus eliminate the potential risk of cross-reactivity with human proteins. Expand

Attitude of Women towards Tetanus Toxoid Vaccine in District Bhakkar Punjab Pakistan
TLDR
The study suggests that missed opportunities may be decreased by motivating the H.C.P. authorities to motivate the spouses about the importance of TT immunization to the eligible women. Expand
Progress in understanding hypersensitivity drug reactions: an overview.
TLDR
Six reviews dedicated to the study of drug hypersensitivity reactions are presented, covering both IgE and T-cell-dependent mechanisms, and the importance of an accurate diagnosis of drug allergy in children is emphasized. Expand

TLDR
The study revealed unexpectedly high rates of IgE responses to diphtheria and tetanus toxoids in a regular DT booster vaccination programme, which were associated tohigh rates of local side effects. Expand
IgE sensitization to gelatin: the probable role of gelatin-containing diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccines.
TLDR
There was a strong causal relationship between gelatin-containing DTaP vaccination, anti-gelatin IgE production, and risk of anaphylaxis following subsequent immunization with live viral vaccines which contain a larger amount of gelatin. Expand

Rational approaches to reduce adverse reactions in man to vaccines containing tetanus and diphtheria toxoids.
TLDR
The major issues in minimizing adverse reactions to tetanus and diphtheria vaccines include purifying the toxins before detoxification as the reactogenic accessory antigens get covalently bound to the toxins during detoxification. Expand
