SUMMARY Data on 10 pedigrees including 184 German Brown Swiss dairy cattle were analysed employing regressive logistic models of segregation analysis. Regarding the ascertainment of the pedigree, dominant Mendelian transmission contributed significantly to the occurrence of BCSE. The segregation analysis showed that a one locus autosomal recessive gene model is not sufficient to explain the observed segregation of BCSE.
