We have applied the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique to analyse mutations in the thymidine kinase (TK) gene of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) associated with resistance to the 5-bromovinyl (BVaraU) and 5-propynyl (PYaraU) analogues of arabinofuranosyl deoxyuridine.
