Speed, flow and volume are the most important elements of the traffic flow. In this study, the speed-density regression models are compared between congested city road and the tolled highway based on traffic flow data on Beijing Third Ring Road (BTRR) and Jing Jin Tang Highway (JJTH) in China, which are collected by road detectors on each road. The speed-density regression curves are analyzed based on four the classical models: Greenshields, Greenberg, Underwood, and Bell-shape models. From… Expand
ASSESSMENT OF TRAFFIC FLOW ON ENUGU HIGHWAYS USING SPEED DENSITY REGRESSION COEFFICIENT
In an attempt to estimate the operating speeds and volume of traffic on highway lanes as a function of predicted demands, speed-density models were estimated using data from highway sites. Speed,Expand
ESTIMATION OF TRAFFIC DENSITY TO COMPARE SPEED- DENSITY MODELS WITH MOVING OBSERVER DATA
An analytical study among vehicular density measured from moving observer method in field and density predicted from theoretical speed-density models are presented in this paper. Kakoli intersectionExpand
Estimating the impact of incidents on urban controlled-access highways: an empirical analysis
ABSTRACT An empirical analysis is developed that quantifies the impact of different types of traffic incidents on the speed and maximum flow averages of vehicles on a controlled-access highway. TheExpand

Estimation of speed-flow and flow-density relations on the motorway network in the greater Copenhagen region
The speed-flow and flow-density relations at the motorway network of the greater Copenhagen region are explored based on a large data sample consisting of a total of 5.3 million observations at 398Expand
Area-wide traffic speed-flow model for the Singapore CBD
TLDR
An area-wide traffic speed-flow model was developed for the Singapore CBD with the aim of providing an analytical framework for the evaluation of traffic management measures for the area (known as the Restricted Zone), and allows one to estimate average journey speed inside the Zone, based on the total traffic flow crossing the Zone cordon. A study of traffic capacity
The results of a traffic capacity study started in june 1934 by the traffic bureau of the ohio state highway department are presented. The data were collected by the photographic method described inExpand
Empirical analysis of freeway flow-density relationships
Abstract Many researchers have reported on the occurence of gaps in freeway speed-density and flow-density data and have suggested that discontinuous functions are necessary to properly describeExpand
An Analysis of Traffic Flow
A model for traffic flow is developed by treating the traffic stream as a continuous fluid. Fluid dynamic principles are then used to derive relations between speed, density, and flow.
