Abstract This manuscript investigates the control system modelling a rigid spacecraft with gas-jet actuators. In the case of only one gas-jet this system is shown to never be small-time locally controllable. For the case of two linearly independent gas-jet actuators, necessary and sufficient conditions for small-time local controllability around a rest point are derived.
