Recent ultrastructural, immunoelectron, and confocal microscopy observations done in our laboratory [Barboro et al. [2002] Exp. Cell. Res. 279:202-218] have confirmed that lamins and the nuclear mitotic apparatus protein (NuMA) are localized inside the interphase nucleus in a polymerized form.
