Escherichia coli DksA and GreB bind to RNA polymerase (RNAP), reaching inside the secondary channel, with similar affinities but have different cellular functions. DksA destabilizes promoter complexes whereas GreB facilitates RNA cleavage in arrested elongation complexes (ECs).
