Mario E. Carranza is Associate Professor of Political Science at Texas A & M University-Kingsville. He has published articles in Asian Survey, The Journal of Peace Research, Latin American Perspectives, and International Politics, as well as a book (in Spanish) on the armed forces in Latin America. He has been a MacArthur postdoctoral fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
