To analyse regional variations in extracellular matrix components of adult rat temporomandibular joint discs, immunohistochemical techniques were used to examine the localization of two small dermatan-sulphate proteoglycans, biglycan and decorin, and a large chondroitin-sulphate proteoglycan.
