An effective three-dimensional de Sitter cosmology in string theory

title={An effective three-dimensional de Sitter cosmology in string theory},
  author={Filip Landgren},
Motivated by the lack of consensus on whether or not de Sitter (dS) lies in the Swampland, we use a recently developed braneworld construction and known Anti-de Sitter (AdS) vacua to compute an explicit effective dS cosmology in three dimensions. We consider a non-perturbative AdS4 vacuum decaying to another lower AdS4 vacuum via bubble-nucleation. We also consider the more speculative case where a dS4 decay to a Minkowski4. The Israel junction conditions are solved across the bubble and we…

De Sitter cosmology on an expanding bubble
Abstract Constructing an explicit compactification yielding a metastable de Sitter (dS) vacuum in a UV consistent string theory is an incredibly difficult open problem. Motivated by this issue, as
Dark bubbles: decorating the wall
Motivated by the difficulty of constructing de Sitter vacua in string theory, a new approach was proposed in arXiv:1807.01570 and arXiv:1907.04268 , where four dimensional de Sitter space was
Emergent de Sitter Cosmology from Decaying Anti-de Sitter Space.
This work proposes an embedding of positive energy Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker cosmology within string theory, confining 4D gravity on a brane which mediates the decay from a nonsupersymmetric five-dimensional anti-de Sitter false vacuum to a true vacuum.
De Sitter vacua in string theory
We outline the construction of metastable de Sitter vacua of type IIB string theory. Our starting point is highly warped IIB compactifications with nontrivial NS and RR three-form fluxes. By
Toward de Sitter space from ten dimensions
Using a 10D lift of non-perturbative volume stabilization in type IIB string theory we study the limitations for obtaining de Sitter vacua. Based on this we find that the simplest KKLT vacua with a
A goldstino at the bottom of the cascade
A bstractWorking within a five-dimensional consistent truncation of type IIB super-gravity dimensionally reduced on T1,1, we consider supersymmetry breaking solutions with the asymptotics of the
Brane/Flux Annihilation and the String Dual of a Non-Supersymmetric Field Theory
We consider the dynamics of p anti-D3 branes inside the Klebanov-Strassler geometry, the deformed conifold with M units of RR 3-form flux around the S3. We find that for p << M the system relaxes to
Challenges for D-brane large-field inflation with stabilizer fields
A bstractWe study possible string theory compactifications which, in the low-energy limit, describe chaotic inflation with a stabilizer field. We first analyze type IIA setups where the inflationary
Fall of stringy de Sitter spacetime
Kachru, Kallosh, Linde, & Trivedi recently constructed a four-dimensional de Sitter compactification of IIB string theory, which they showed to be metastable in agreement with general arguments about
LARGE volume string compactifications at finite temperature
We present a detailed study of the finite-temperature behaviour of the LARGE Volume type IIB flux compactifications. We show that certain moduli can thermalise at high temperatures. Despite that,
