An avulsion fracture of the calcaneal tuberosity: delay of treatment causes the 'Achilles heel' of optimal recovery.

A 72-year-old woman was diagnosed with an avulsion fracture of the tuberosity of the calcaneus. The fracture was planned for elective fixation 12 days after the accident.
