Efficient management during the operational phase of district energy systems has become increasingly complex due to the various static and dynamic factors involved. Existing deterministic algorithms which are largely based on human experience acquired from specific domains, normally fail to consider the overall efficiency of district energy systems in a holistic way. This paper looks into taking a black box approach by using genetic algorithms (GA) to solve a multiobjectiveoptimization problem…

Real-time Multi-scale Smart Energy Management and Optimisation (REMO) for buildings and their district
Energy management systems in buildings and their district today use automation systems and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for smart energy management, but they fail to achieve the desired
Real-time and semantic energy management across buildings in a district configuration
The optimisation-based approach, developed in this thesis, was able to increase profit to the energy centre by 45% as well as decrease CO2 emissions whist adapting to errors in energy demand and supply forecasting.

The authors discuss the problem of finding an optimal electricity and heat production schedule subject to the constraints imposed by the need to match simultaneously both the district heating and the
Decentralized sustainable energy planning of Tumkur district, India
Present work shows the feasibility of decentralized energy options for the Tumkur district in India. Decentralized energy planning (DEP) involves scaling down energy planning to subnational or
