An analytic Lifshitz black hole

  title={An analytic Lifshitz black hole},

A Lifshitz point is described by a quantum field theory with anisotropic scale invariance (but not Galilean invariance). In [8], gravity duals were conjectured for such theories. We construct analytically a black hole that asymptotes to a vacuum Lifshitz solution; this black hole solves the equations of motion of some simple (but somewhat strange) extensions of the models of [8]. We study its thermodynamics and scalar response functions. The scalar wave equation turns out to be exactly solvable…

Lifshitz black holes in string theory

We provide the first black hole solutions with Lifshitz asymptotics found in string theory. These are expected to be dual to models enjoying an isotropic scale invariance with dynamical exponent z =

Lifshitz black holes in IIA supergravity

A bstractWe compute string theoretic black hole solutions having Lifshitz asymptotics with a general dynamical exponent z > 1. We start by constructing solutions in a flux compactification of six

A Lifshitz Black Hole in Four Dimensional R**2 Gravity

We consider a higher derivative gravity theory in four dimensions with a negative cosmological constant and show that vacuum solutions of both Lifshitz type and Schrodinger type with arbitrary

Thermodynamics of Lifshitz black holes

A bstractWe specialize the Wald formalism to derive the thermodynamical first law for static black holes with spherical/torus/hyperbolic symmetries in a variety of supergravities or

Deformations of Lifshitz holography

The simplest gravity duals for quantum critical theories with z = 2 ‘Lifshitz’ scale invariance admit a marginally relevant deformation. Generic black holes in the bulk describe the field theory with

Quasi-Topological Lifshitz Black Holes

We investigate the effects of including a quasi-topological cubic curvature term to the GaussBonnet action to five dimensional Lifshitz gravity. We find that a new set of Lifshitz black hole

On charged Lifshitz black holes

We obtain exact solutions of charged asymptotically Lifshitz black holes in arbitrary (d + 2) dimensions, generalizing the four dimensional solution investigated in 0908.2611[hep-th]. We find that

Scalar fields and Lifshitz black holes from Derrick's theorem evasion

We study classical scalar fields in asymptotically Lifshitz spacetimes. By evading Derrick’s theorem requiring the scalar potential to explicitly depend on the background coordinates, we induce a

Black holes in asymptotically Lifshitz spacetime

A model of 3+1 dimensional gravity with negative cosmological constant coupled to abelian gauge fields has been proposed as a gravity dual for Lifshitz like critical phenomena in 2+1 dimensions. The

Lifshitz Topological Black Holes

I find a class of black hole solutions to a (3+1) dimensional theory gravity coupled to abelian gauge fields with negative cosmological constant that has been proposed as the dual theory to a

Black Holes in asymptotically Lifshitz spacetimes with arbitrary critical exponent

Recently, a class of gravitational backgrounds in 3 + 1 dimensions have been proposed as holographic duals to a Lifshitz theory describing critical phenomena in 2 + 1 dimensions with critical

Gravity duals for non-relativistic CFTs

We attempt to generalize the AdS/CFT correspondence to non-relativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations. Such systems govern ultracold atoms at unitarity,

On string theory duals of Lifshitz-like fixed points

We present type IIB supergravity solutions which are expected to be dual to certain Lifshitz-like fixed points with anisotropic scale invariance. They are expected to describe a class of D3-D7

Heating up Galilean holography

We embed a holographic description of a quantum field theory with Galilean conformal invariance in string theory. The key observation is that such field theories may be realized as conventional

Exact Results for the BTZ Black Hole

In this review, we summarize exact results for the three-dimensional BTZ black hole. We use rigorous mathematical results to clarify the general structure and properties of this black hole spacetime

Gravity duals for nonrelativistic conformal field theories.

This work attempts to generalize the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence to nonrelativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations, and constructs a family of metrics which realize these symmetries as isometries.

Gravity Duals of Lifshitz-Like Fixed Points

We find candidate macroscopic gravity duals for scale-invariant but non-Lorentz invariant fixed points, which do not have particle number as a conserved quantity. We compute two-point correlation
