Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are ubiquitous pollutants in outdoor and indoor air. However, epidemiologic studies that evaluate health effects associated with NOx commonly rely upon outdoor concentrations of NOx, nitrogen dioxide (NO2), or residence characteristics as surrogates for personal exposure.
