In the past, several models of consciousness have become popular and have led to the development of models for machine consciousness with varying degrees of success and challenges for simulation and implementations. Moreover, affective computing attributes that involve emotions, behavior and personality have not been the focus of models of consciousness as they lacked motivation for deployment in software applications and robots. The affective attributes are important factors for the future of…

Affective Computing

Key issues in affective computing, " computing that relates to, arises from, or influences emotions", are presented and new applications are presented for computer-assisted learning, perceptual information retrieval, arts and entertainment, and human health and interaction.

This paper presents a formal model and a cognitive process of consciousness in order to explain how abstract consciousness is generated and what its cognitive mechanisms are.

Virtual Machines and Consciousness

It is argued that although the word 'consciousness' has no well-defined meaning, it can enhance the authors' understanding of what these aspects might be by designing and building virtual- machine architectures capturing various features of consciousness.

A COMPUTATIONAL MODEL OF MACHINE CONSCIOUSNESS

A physical definition of consciousness is proposed with the hope to model it in intelligent machines and a concept of mental saccades that is useful for explaining the attention-switching and focusing mechanism from computational perspective is proposed.

Human consciousness and its relationship to social neuroscience: A novel hypothesis

A variety of lines of evidence are brought together, including experiments on the neural basis of social perception, on hemispatial neglect, on the out-of-body experience, on mirror neurons, and on the mechanisms of decision-making, to explore the possibility that awareness is a construct of the social machinery in the brain.

A Mechanistic Theory of Consciousness

This paper summarizes some of the main points of the attention schema theory, suggests how a brain with an attention schema might concur, and suggests how the relationship between attention and consciousness may have taken on additional functions.

Artificial Intelligence and Consciousness

Consciousness is no longer a threatening notion in the community of AI. In human beings, consciousness corresponds to a collection of different features of human cognition. AI researchers are
