Abstract The syllid fauna of three locations in Crete and Israel (eastern Mediterranean Sea) was studied, yielding 82 syllid species, many of which were found for the first time in the respective areas: Seventeen species were recorded for the first time on the Israeli coasts and 20 in Greek waters. Perkinsyllis augeneri (Hartmann-Schröder, 1979) and Prosphaerosyllis chauseyensis Olivier et al., 2011 are new records for the Mediterranean Sea. Detailed information is given on the morphology… Expand

Abstract The diversity, distribution and ecology of the family Syllidae along the Western Iberian coast was studied, based on 145 sediment samples covering the whole Portuguese coastal shelf and 30Expand
On Some New Recorded Syllidae (Polychaeta: Phyllodocida) for Mediterranean Waters
Aims: This paper gives an account of the syllid species from different stations Rasheed, Domiatte, El Borrulus, Bardweel, El Aresh, also provides some information on the morphology, distribution an dExpand
Syllidae (Annelida: Phyllodocida) from the deep Mediterranean Sea, with the description of three new species.
TLDR
Present data, along with a critical analysis of available literature, show that Syllidae are highly diverse in deep Mediterranean environments, even though they are rarely reported, probably due to the scarce number of studies devoted to the size-fraction of benthos including deep-sea syllids. Expand
New records of marine Annelida (Polychaeta) in the Egyptian coast, eastern Mediterranean Sea
Polychaeta represent a major component of benthos in the marine environment, and their taxonomical studies are crucial for biodiversity information and to understand ecosystem functioning (Dorgham etExpand

  • Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom
  • 2016
A new species of Ampharetidae, Amphicteis fiegei sp. nov., is described from the Red Sea reef Al Fahal off Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. It is characterized by the possession of prominent nuchal ridges thatExpand
Polychaetes of Greece: an updated and annotated checklist
TLDR
This checklist revises the status of all extant polychaete species reported from the Greek Exclusive Economic Zone since 1832 and provides information on 836 species-level taxa from Greece, of which 142 are considered questionable. Expand
Alien polychaete species worldwide: current status and their impacts
  • M. Çınar
  • Biology
  • Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom
  • 2012
TLDR
The invasive polychaete species have greatly altered habitat structures in some areas, restructured the food webs, and created important economic problems. Expand
First occurrence of Perkinsyllis San Martín, López & Aguado, 2009 (Polychaeta: Syllidae) in Brazil, with descriptions of two new species
TLDR
A key to all described species of Perkinsyllis is presented, including an Australian species referred to this genus for the first time, as well as a new to science species discovered in Brazilian waters with three species. Expand
Alien species in the Mediterranean Sea by 2012. A contribution to the application of European Union’s Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). Part 2. Introduction trends and pathways
TLDR
There is an increasing trend in new introductions via the Suez Canal and via shipping, while Lessepsian species decline westwards, while the reverse pattern is evident for ship-mediated species and for those introduced with aquaculture. Expand
Within-family plasticity of nervous system architecture in Syllidae (Annelida, Errantia)
TLDR
This study provides the first thorough description of the nervous system in the family Syllidae, finding similar patterns in phylogenetically widely separated species in similar niches and a high degree of modularity within a family. Expand
