We present a review on some of the basic aspects concerning quantum cosmology in the presence of cut-off physics as it has emerged in the literature during the last fifteen years. We first analyze how the Wheeler–DeWitt equation describes the quantum Universe dynamics, when a pure metric approach is concerned, showing how, in general, the primordial singularity is not removed by the quantum effects. We then analyze the main implications of applying the loop quantum gravity prescriptions to the… Expand

Big-bounce cosmology from quantum gravity: The case of a cyclical Bianchi I universe
We analyse the classical and quantum dynamics of a Bianchi I model in the presence of a small negative cosmological constant characterizing its evolution in term of the dust-time dualism. WeExpand
Behavior of the Universe anisotropy in a big-bounce cosmology
We investigate the classical and quantum behavior of a Bianchi I model in the presence of a stiff matter contribution when the Vilenkin interpretation of the wave function of the Universe is takenExpand
Semiclassical and quantum analysis of the isotropic Universe in the polymer paradigm
We analyse the semi-classical and quantum dynamics of the isotropic Universe in the framework of the Polymer Quantum mechanics, in order to implement a cut-off physics on the initial singularity. WeExpand
Closed Friedmann–Robertson–Walker model in loop quantum cosmology
The basic idea of loop quantum cosmology (LQC) applies to every spatially homogeneous cosmological model; however only the spatially flat (so-called k = 0) case has been understood in detail in theExpand
Bianchi I model as a prototype for a cyclical Universe
Abstract We analyze the dynamics of the Bianchi I model in the presence of stiff matter, an ultrarelativistic component and a small negative cosmological constant. We quantize this model in theExpand
Loop quantum cosmology of Bianchi type IX models
The ''improved dynamics'' of loop quantum cosmology is extended to include anisotropies of the Bianchi type I model. As in the isotropic case, a massless scalar field serves as a relational timeExpand
Loop quantum cosmology of k = 1 FRW models
The closed, $k=1$, FRW model coupled to a massless scalar field is investigated in the framework of loop quantum cosmology using analytical and numerical methods. As in the $k=0$ case, the scalarExpand
On a Continuum Limit for Loop Quantum Cosmology
The use of non‐regular representations of the Heisenberg‐Weyl commutation relations has proved to be useful for studying conceptual and technical issues in quantum gravity. Of particular relevance isExpand
Inhomogeneous loop quantum cosmology: Hybrid quantization of the Gowdy model
The Gowdy cosmologies provide a suitable arena to further develop loop quantum cosmology, allowing the presence of inhomogeneities. For the particular case of Gowdy spacetimes with the spatialExpand
Classical and quantum behavior of the generic cosmological solution
In the present paper we generalize the original work of C.W. Misner about the quantum dynamics of the Bianchi type IX geometry near the cosmological singularity. We extend the analysis to the genericExpand
