We present a theory of both the itinerant carrier-mediated RKKY interaction and the virtual excitations-mediated Bloembergen-Rowland (BR) interaction between magnetic moments in graphene induced by proximity effect with a ferromagnetic film. We show that the RKKY/BR interaction consists of the Heisenberg, Ising, and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) terms. In the case of the nearest distance, we estimate the DM term from the RKKY/BR interaction is about 0.13 meV for the graphene/Co interface, which is…

Significant Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction at graphene–ferromagnet interfaces due to the Rashba effect
- PhysicsNature Materials
- 2018
It is demonstrated that chiral spin textures are induced at graphene/ferromagnetic metal interfaces, and this work paves a path towards two-dimensional-material-based spin–orbitronics.
Anatomy of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interaction at Co/Pt Interfaces.
- PhysicsPhysical review letters
- 2015
The main features and microscopic mechanisms of DMI in Co/Pt bilayers via first principles calculations are unveiled and it is found that the large DMI of the bilayers has a dominant contribution from the spins of the interfacial Co layer.
Thickness dependence of the interfacial Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction in inversion symmetry broken systems
- PhysicsNature communications
- 2015
Here it is demonstrated an experimental technique to straightforwardly observe the IDM interaction, namely Brillouin light scattering, and the non-reciprocal spin wave dispersions allow not only the determination of theIDM energy densities beyond the regime of perpendicular magnetization but also the revelation of the inverse proportionality with the thickness of the magnetic layer.

We study the carrier-mediated exchange interaction, the so-called RKKY coupling, between two magnetic moments in graphene using exact diagonalization on the honeycomb lattice. By using the…
Interlayer Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interactions.
- PhysicsPhysical review letters
- 2019
It is shown by means of atomistic calculations that in heterostructures an interlayer coupling of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya type across a spacer can emerge and this interaction yields nontrivial three-dimensional spin textures across the entire trilayer, which evolve within as well as between the planes and, hence, combine intraplane and interplane chiralities.

Linewidth measurements reveal that the lifetime of the magnons is asymmetric with respect to their counter-propagating directions, and the lifetime asymmetry is dependent on the magnon frequency, being more pronounced, the higher the frequency.

Using first-principles calculations, we investigate the impact of hydrogenation on the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) at graphene/Co interface. We find that both the magnitude and chirality…
